Meet Sandra
Her list of priorities became evident when our quick catch ups for paperwork signing, document retrieval, those realities of a obtaining a home loan, were planned around Sandra’s busy social calendar.
Cards with the ladies from the church, attending to the ever important role of grandmother, and clearly the hub for all things family and celebration, in her late 80’s Sandra is still going strong. As a widow she spoke of missing her husband, but never of being lonely.
She was slightly sheepish when I arrived one morning with papers for her to sign as she’d been moving patio furniture a week earlier with her daughter, lost her balance while maneuvering a heavy metal table and was sporting some sore muscles inhibiting her normally spry movements.
Sandra is in the fortunate position of being so healthy, she must ensure she doesn’t outlive her savings. Her son and son-in-law encouraged her to understand how housing wealth could expand her flexibility to continue to live as she chooses, in her home, for as long as chooses.
Her Home Equity Conversion Mortgage will enable in-home care in the future should she need a little assistance. The financial cushion keeps Sandra in charge of her future and offers the piece of mind she’ll never be a “burden”. What a truly kind disposition.
Sandra is a delight to talk to, punchy, no words minced gal and I kinda like that, a lot. I’m sensing a theme among these older women taking charge of their financial future. They’re a get ‘er done generation.
