Home Financing Educational Workshops Designed with Senior Needs in Mind

Home financing needs change in retirement. Income often looks different, priorities shift, and protecting long-term flexibility matters more than ever. Today’s retirement mortgage options are designed to reflect those realities—supporting the growing trend to live how you want, where you want, at any age.

This workshop is educational in nature and intended to help you understand what’s available, how the options work, and how to avoid common (and costly) mistakes.

Why Retirement Mortgages Exist

Many retirees are “asset rich but income light.” Traditional mortgages weren’t built for that profile. Retirement mortgage options can help when you want to:

  • Move closer to family or downsize
  • Buy a new home before selling your current one
  • Reduce or eliminate a monthly mortgage payment
  • Access home equity strategically to support housing costs, care, or cash flow
  • Maintain flexibility without overdrawing from retirement savings

What We’ll Discuss

  • Asset-Qualifying Loans
Designed for retirees who have strong assets but limited taxable income. These loans may allow assets—rather than income alone—to support qualifying.
  • Bridge Loans
Used to access equity from a current home to purchase the next one before selling. Helpful for smooth transitions, but often misunderstood.
  • Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (Reverse Mortgages / HECMs)
A payment-optional loan for homeowners age 62+, offering multiple ways to access home equity. We’ll clarify what they are, how they work today, and when they may—or may not—make sense.
  • Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs)
A familiar tool, but not always a good fit in retirement. We’ll discuss when they work well and when they can create future problems.

What This Workshop Is (and Is Not)

This is not a sales presentation.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Learn what has changed in retirement lending
  • Understand the pros, cons, and tradeoffs of each option
  • Ask questions in a low-pressure setting
  • Leave better equipped to make informed decisions
